Muay Thai: common questions

Do I need experience or to be fit to start Muay Thai?
No. Most people start with no experience. Classes are mixed-level, so beginners learn the basics while experienced students work on harder drills, and the coach scales the rounds to your fitness. You get fit by training; you don't need to be fit first.
Is 30 or 40 too late to start Muay Thai?
No. Adults of every age start Muay Thai for fitness, stress relief and self-defence. You set the pace: sparring is optional and always controlled. What matters most is training regularly, ideally two or three times a week, and listening to your body.
How much are Muay Thai classes in Bukit Mertajam at Fightlab?
A walk-in class is RM 30. Monthly packages start at RM 95 a month for 4 + 1 classes, and longer packages cost less per month. New members pay a one-time RM 80 registration fee with their first package.
What should I bring to my first Muay Thai class?
Comfortable training clothes, water and a towel. You train barefoot on the mats. No gloves yet? Rent a pair at the gym for RM 5, so there's nothing to buy before you know you enjoy it.
Is there sparring, and is it safe?
Sparring is optional and controlled. It's introduced once you know the basics, always with protective gear and partners matched to your level, and you can train purely for fitness without ever sparring.
Can women join Muay Thai classes?
Yes. Classes are mixed and welcoming to women of every level. If you'd rather start one-to-one or with friends, personal training and semi-private sessions are also available.

Prefer to start one-to-one or with friends? Personal training and semi-private sessions run at times that suit you.
