Your first Muay Thai class: what to expect
Your first Muay Thai class is an hour of warm-up, technique and pad work, pitched at beginners. Wear comfortable clothes, bring water and a towel, and rent gloves at the gym for RM 5. You train barefoot, sparring is optional, and no experience or fitness is needed.
Before you come
- Book or walk in. Book a class from the schedule, or walk in for RM 30.
- Sign the waiver. Everyone signs our waiver once. Do it online when you create your account, or at the desk.
- Eat light. Have a small meal an hour or two before, and drink water through the day.
- Arrive 10 minutes early. Tell the coach it's your first class, so you're paired with the right partner.
How the hour runs
- Warm-up. Mobility and conditioning to get you moving and protect your joints.
- Technique. Punches, kicks, knees, elbows and the clinch, broken down step by step.
- Pad rounds. Put it together on pads with a partner, round by round, at your pace.
- Controlled sparring. Only for students who are ready, with protective gear and matched partners. Never on your first day unless you want to.
After your first class
Expect to feel it in your legs and shoulders for a day or two: that's normal. Drink plenty of water and keep moving.
Most people progress fastest training two or three times a week. When you're ready to keep going, pick a package on the Memberships page, or ask us at the desk.
